Verde Azul Studios

Transforming 1,000 square meter single family residential property into five boutique studios located on Maringanha Beach, Pemba. Each studio includes bathroom and kitchen with access to three common spaces designed for both leisure and productivity. This project entailed brand development, site programing, custom kitchen installation, plumbing&electrical overhaul, interior design, and marketing. The remote site includes a solar water heater, ground water well, and a 30kvA diesel generator. The project addressed the lack of market options by employing natural, locally used materials. The renovation was done with community involved construction methods where we investigated design processes and materials as peace building opportunities. The exploration of bamboo became a motif in the custom furniture and interior finishes.
